Jimmy Fund Captain

Each year, a Boston Red Sox player serves as the Jimmy Fund Captain, building awareness and support for the Jimmy Fund's mission to conquer cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Since 1953, one thing has remained constant for the Boston Red Sox baseball team — its role as champion for the Jimmy Fund.


The Jimmy Fund's fundraising event schedule is almost as busy as the Boston Red Sox game schedule — and despite the non-stop action of the summer baseball season, the team is always willing to lend a helping hand to its favorite charity.

Not only is Ted Williams (the "Splendid Splinter") considered the greatest hitter who ever lived, he is also credited with being one of the most influential advocates for the Jimmy Fund throughout his extraordinary career with the Red Sox.
