One Mission is a childhood cancer foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families. One Mission funds programs and services that provide immediate relief from the relentless wrath cancer unleashes every single day. Programs and services that lift the spirits of patients and their families, help the healing and recovery process and make life more livable during treatment and hospitalization.
One Mission understands the financial, emotional and physical struggles that families face upon receiving a childhood cancer diagnosis. One Mission recognizes these struggles by supporting the annual Jimmy Fund Summer Festival, a child life specialist position, parking passes for families and special occasion lunches and events; all of which greatly enhance the lives of patients and families during difficult and stressful times.
Programs One Mission supports at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute:
Expensive parking in hospital garages can add immense financial burden to families. Each year, the Parking Assistance Program distributes parking vouchers to over 250 new families.
Jimmy Fund Clinic Summer Festival
The Pediatric Activities program offers our youngest patients the opportunity to focus on reducing anxiety and stress through creative expression and communication activities such as swimming, police car rides, rock climbing, moon walking, bumper cars, and much more.
Child Life Specialist
The Child Life Specialists use play as a way to help patients express fears or concerns, and understand the hospital environment. They provide activities and entertainment, and arrange tutors for children who miss school.
Special Occasion Events and Lunches
One Mission provides lunch to patients and families in the Jimmy Fund Clinic on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July, Halloween, etc. These special occasions are celebrated at both Boston Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber on a monthly basis. In addition, lunch is currently provided once a week to the parents of oncology patients at Boston Children’s Hospital.
