Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl® presented by FedEx serves up sweet success

Everyone had the opportunity to be a child again at the nation's largest all-you-can-eat ice cream festival, the 27th annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl® presented by FedEx.

From June 9 – 11, more than 30,000 school children, families, and businesspeople converged on Boston's City Hall Plaza to indulge in ice cream and support the Jimmy Fund, raising more than $240,000 for cancer research and care at Dana-Farber.

From the moment the event kicked off, there was no holding back the participants as they sampled more than 40 flavors of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and gelato from nine of the nation's leading vendors.

The rainy weather didn't stop ice cream lovers and Jimmy Fund fans from enjoying this year's Scooper Bowl festivities.

On the first day, the wives of Boston Red Sox players hosted two ice-cream-eating contests, one for a group of eager children and another for enthusiastic FedEx employees. Over the next two days, many attendees had their own competitions against friends and family, each marking their progress with towering stacks of dishes.

Participants enjoyed other fun entertainment, including performances by brother and sister music duo Michael and Marisa, singer/songwriter Chad Perrone, singer Tim Blane, and children's entertainer Michael Bouche.

"The Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl is a celebration of our community," said Jimmy Fund Chairman Mike Andrews. "It's a perfect opportunity for people, young and old, to join together to support the mission of the Jimmy Fund and satisfy their sweet tooth at the same time."
