Mass Dash
Saturday, July 13 – Sunday, July 14, 2013
Mount Greylock State Reservation, Lanesboro to Carson Beach, South Boston
The Mass Dash is a 200-mile, non-stop relay from the Berkshires to Boston to raise money for the Jimmy Fund.
Starting July 13, 2013, teams of six to twelve runners will kick-off the fourth annual race. The 36-leg scenic course begins at the Mount Greylock State Reservation in Lanesboro and finishes at Carson Beach in South Boston. UMass-Amherst serves as the halfway point of the course and runners cross the Winsor Dam at the Quabbin Reservoir in the middle of the night.
A post-race party will be held at Carson Beach with a barbeque, music, and a Harpoon "beer garden."
This relay was established in memory of Neal Webber, a Longmeadow resident who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. Webber, who was treated at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, fought a hard battle, but succumbed to the disease in 2008. He was an avid runner and marathoner, and the inspiration for the Mass Dash.
