Join a holiday tradition that has lasted for 38 years — buy a wreath or Christmas tree to benefit the Jimmy Fund.
Dan Murphy Junior and his family have been selling the holiday greenery from their backyard in Randolph, Mass. ever since Murphy's son, Dan III, was treated for Hodgkin's disease at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the age of six. Now 44 years old, Dan III is cancer-free. Dan Junior is also a cancer survivor, treated for colon cancer at Dana-Farber.
"I have people who have been coming back for more than 20 years," says Murphy. "Sometimes people drive up and just hand us a check even if they don't need a tree."
The trees, which range in price from $20 to $50 per tree, will be on sale starting December 1. Wreaths are around $6 each.
