Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer
Monday, May 7 – Sunday, May 13, 2012
Treat your mom to a delicious week of desserts for Mother's Day. The 13th annual Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer is a sweet way to help battle breast cancer while treating the special women in our lives.
Over the years, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer has evolved and grown into one of the sweetest weeks Boston and the Greater Boston area has experienced.
David Ortiz enjoys banana flan from Big Papi's Grill in Framingham on May 4, 2010, as part of Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer. More than 150 restaurants, bakeries, cafés and chocolate shops throughout Massachusetts serve special desserts for this event.
Teaming up with restaurants, bakeries, and cafes across the region, Boston Bakes offers the opportunity to enjoy a delectable dessert, and support breast cancer research and care at the same time. Participating establishments dedicate one dessert off their menu for the week and direct 100 percent of proceeds from the sales of that dessert to breast cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer began in 2000 by Carol Brownman Sneider to pay tribute to her mother, Eva Brownman, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1973 at age 44.
