Pan-Massachusetts Challenge gives $30.4 million to the Jimmy Fund
The 2009 Pan-Massachusetts Challenge has contributed $30,384,200 to adult and pediatric cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its August cycling event. The funds raised by the 4,937 cyclists in 2009 brings the organization's 30-year total Jimmy Fund gift to $270 million.

Former Red Sox player Mike Andrews to retire as Jimmy Fund Chairman
After more than 30 years as chairman of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund, Mike Andrews, 66, will retire at the end of this year. Under his direction, the Jimmy Fund has gone from raising $1 million a year to help further cancer care and research to generating more than $64 million this year.

Red Sox players sign autographs to support the Jimmy Fund
Boston Red Sox players and up-and-coming minor leaguers will sign autographs to benefit the Jimmy Fund at the fifth annual New Stars for Young Stars on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Jillian's Boston.

Dana-Farber presents Dave McGillivray with the 2009 Jimmy Award
At the International Golf Club on Monday, October 5, Dave McGillivray was presented with the prestigious 2009 Jimmy Award. The Jimmy Award was established to honor those who have committed themselves to the mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

BURGER KING® restaurants celebrate ten years supporting the Jimmy Fund, bringing total given to $8.5 million
From July 27 through September 7, more than 500 BURGER KING® restaurants in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont took part in the 10th annual A Chance for Kids®.
A festive collection of exclusive holiday cards, candles, and ornaments to support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber are now on sale. There are nine different card designs to wish friends, colleagues, and family happy holidays.

Alain Arcalji of Rio de Janeiro, is running the ninth annual B.A.A. Half Marathon® presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund on Sunday, Oct.11, as a member of the official Dana-Farber team in the Running the Race Against Cancer® program.

Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk takes critical steps in the fight against cancer
On Sunday, Sept. 13, 8,000 people from around New England will lace up their sneakers and take part in the 21st annual Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. Whether walking for themselves, their loved ones, neighbors, or coworkers, they share a common purpose: to raise money to support research for the development of more effective cancer treatments.
The 13th Annual Joshua Run, a 5 Mile Run on the beautiful seaside cliffs of Scituate, will take place on Saturday, October 24. With something for runners and walkers of all ages, the family fun day is a unique event that honors many who have battled cancer.
WEEI and NESN are proud to announce that the eighth annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon will take place at Fenway Park over two days beginning Thursday, August 27th. The 36-hour broadcast will feature compelling stories and celebrity guests, as well as emotional ceremonies prior to both Red Sox games during the two day period.

BURGER KING® guests can help fight childhood cancers by donating $1 to The Jimmy Fund through the A Chance for Kids® program at participating BURGER KING® restaurants through Sept. 7, 2009. With each contribution, restaurant guests will receive a scratch card guaranteed to be a winner, with prizes ranging from airline tickets and theme park admissions to BURGER KING® food.

Coming to a movie theater near you this summer – the chance to join in the fight against cancer by supporting the Jimmy Fund/Variety Children's Charity Theatre Collections Program. From June 12 to July 26, participating National Amusements theatres will show a powerful new movie trailer entitled Stronger than Ever prior to the movies.

Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl® Presented by FedEx: All-you-can-eat ice cream festival takes place on June 9, 10 and 11
The 27th annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl presented by FedEx is on June 9, 10 and 11, at Boston City Hall Plaza. More than 40 flavors will be served for three consecutive days to support cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
When Cheryl Kelly purchased her ticket for the Jimmy Fund Fantasy Day "Ultimate Fan Experience" — a day of contests, a kid zone, tours, photo opportunities, and a skills zone at Fenway Park — she never dreamed she would win the ultimate prize, a chance to step up to the plate and hit a home run. Kelly, in turn, gave her prize to her nine-year old son, Nolan.
For more than two decades, Ben & Jerry's has been a top vendor at the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl. The 27th annual all-you-can-eat ice cream festival is on June 9, 10 and 11 at Boston City Hall Plaza.
Join Swim Across America this summer and make a splash for pediatric cancer survivorship programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The 14th annual Boston Harbor 22-mile relay swim is on Friday, July 17, and the 11th annual Nantasket Beach one- and half-mile swims are on Saturday, July 18.
The Red Sox will be on the road but there will be plenty of baseball action at Fenway Park on July 18th as the Jimmy Fund presents the "Ultimate Fan Experience" as well as batting and fielding packages at Jimmy Fund Fantasy Day.

Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer
More than 150 restaurants and bakeries in the Boston area will bake unique desserts during what has officially been proclaimed "Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer Week" by the city of Boston, the week leading up to Mother's Day, May 4 – 10. One hundred percent of sales from a specially selected dessert will benefit breast cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Everyone loves a surprise, especially the Friends of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as they plan the La Petite Surprise. This special evening will be filled with surprises and entertainment.

Massachusetts makes it 50 and still running
When Edwin Apel was diagnosed with cancer he began taking his marathon running to a whole new level. Apel resolved to run a marathon in every state and on every continent. He has now run marathons in 49 states. Massachusetts is the remaining state, where he will run in the Boston Marathon® as a member of Dana-Farber's Boston Marathon Challenge team.

Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge members run for cancer research
On April 20, several hundred runners will be taking steps toward helping cancer patients reach their ultimate finish line — survival — when they run the 2009 Boston Marathon to raise funds for cancer research.
When the Red Sox return to Fenway Park on April 6 for the home opener, members of Red Sox Nation are invited to join in the fourth annual Rally Against Cancer and help the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute shut out cancer.

American Airlines 'rallies' for the Jimmy Fund
American Airlines, the official airline partner of the Jimmy Fund, is stepping up to the plate and going deep in its support for the Jimmy Fund. American and its more than 900 employees at Boston's Logan International Airport will be entering a team in the Jimmy Fund's 2009 Rally Against CancerSM.

Rock N' Run benefit event unites local musicians and a cause
On March 27, four Boston bands will unite to fight cancer at the second Rock N' Run Benefit Event. The event will feature live performances by The Vital Might, Build A Machine, Spectator and Forgetful Jones. The night, hosted by two Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge runners, is dedicated to raising thousands of dollars for the Claudia Barr Cancer Foundation at Dana-Farber.
