New Stars for Young Stars lines up current and up-and-coming Red Sox players to support the Jimmy Fund

Event gives Red Sox fans an early start to their baseball season and help the fight against cancer

Current and rising Boston Red Sox stars will sign autographs to benefit the Jimmy Fund at the fourth-annual New Stars for Young Stars event on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Jillian's Boston.

The line-up includes current Red Sox players like pitcher Justin Masterson, pitcher Michael Bowden, outfielder Chris Carter, and catcher George Kottaras. Red Sox Minor League 2008 Player of the Year Lars Anderson and 2008 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year Daniel Bard are also on the list. Also, new stars like SoxProspects.com's third-ranked prospect Jason Place, Red Sox 2006 first-round draft pick Josh Reddick, and SoxProspects.com All-Star Richie Lentz will be introduced. Players on the roster are subject to change.

Tickets are available on two levels and are limited. The MVP Package, $250 per ticket, guarantees the holder one of the first 30 spots in line, an autograph from each player, an official MLB Red Sox player jersey, a New Stars for Young Stars hat, and a buffet lunch. The Fan Package, $150 per ticket, offers an autograph from each player and a buffet lunch. All ticket holders can bring one guest, but only one set of autographs will be allowed. The event will include a sports memorabilia sale, an opportunity drawing, a silent auction, and bowling contests to help strike out cancer.

For more information and to buy tickets, visit the event page online or call 1-800-52-JIMMY.

In its fourth year, New Stars for Young Stars is hosted by the Jimmy Fund Council of Greater Boston and has quickly become a winning event, raising nearly $90,000 since its start in 2005.

Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox. The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is a leading cancer research and care center for adults and children, and a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center.
