This year's WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon has expanded to two days for the first time in the five-year history of the event. The Radio-Telethon will kickoff on Thursday Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. with a special broadcast from WEEI's Dale and Holley at the station's Lansdowne street studio and continue with The Big Show with Glenn Ordway until 6 p.m. The day's broadcast will feature special interviews with patients and doctors from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as the opportunity for listeners to make contributions by phone or online.

The second day of the event will get underway on Friday, Aug. 17, at 6:00 a.m. with Dennis and Callahan, and will continue through midnight spanning 18 hours. The day will include a host of celebrity interviews including Jim Belushi, Ben Affleck, Michael Chiklis, Bobby and Peter Farrelly, and Dane Cook, as well as many more personal stories from the patients, doctors and researchers supported by the Jimmy Fund.

NESN will have expanded coverage on Thursday and will cover the event live from 6 a.m. to midnight on Friday. NESN's coverage of the Jimmy Fund will continue within the pre-game and post-game shows and during Friday's doubleheader game coverage. Most of NESN's on-air personalities will support the effort, hosting live from a location on Lansdowne Street and on NESN's Yawkey Way Stage, including Andy Brickley, Tom Caron, Tina Cervasio, Jack Edwards, Eric Frede, Hazel Mae, Don Orsillo, Jayme Parker, Jerry Remy, Rob Simpson and Kathryn Tappen.

Last year's event raised a record $2.9 million dollars and included donations from Chairman of the Red Sox John Henry, Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca on behalf of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, Patriots' Chairman Robert Kraft, Boston Bruins CEO Jeremy Jacobs, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney among others.

Founded in 1948 to raise funds for patient care and the fight against children's cancer, the Jimmy Fund supports the search for new cancer treatments and cures for both adults and children at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Ranked as the top cancer hospital in New England, Dana-Farber is recognized by the National Cancer institute as one of the world's leaders in cancer care and research. The Jimmy Fund has been an official charity of the Boston Red Sox since 1953.
