When it comes to fighting cancer...The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are
on the same team!
Donald Trump will throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park with Jimmy Fund Clinic patients
Donald Trump is putting all rivalries aside and flying to Boston on Friday night, August 18, to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park with two children battling cancer. Even though Trump is a Yankees fan, he's stepping up on the mound for an official Red Sox charity, the Jimmy Fund, because when it comes to fighting cancer, we're all on the same team!
While the Sox and Yankees battle it out on the field, the 5th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon will be going on live from Fenway Park for 18 hours. The goal is to raise $2.6 million for cancer care and research. The Jimmy Fund supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative, effective cancer therapies for adults and children around the world.
Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus is scheduled to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch, and everyone from actor Steve Carrell to Senator Ted Kennedy to the Farrelly brothers are expected to call in to show support. In years past, even Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner has called in to support the Jimmy Fund.
