Make waves in the fight against cancer
Swim Across America Benefit and Auction, Thursday, July 13
Splash into summer this July by making waves in the fight against cancer. Swim Across America is back for an 11th year in Boston and 8th year at Nantasket Beach in Hull. All proceeds benefit survivor programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Swim Across America events get under way on Thursday, July 13, with a party and auction. Mingle and mix with Olympic swimmers Janel Jorgensen, Carlton Bruner, Eric Wunderlich, and Tim McKee at the Sports Club/LA Observation Deck in Boston, 4 Avery Street, adjacent to the Ritz Carlton, Boston Common. Tickets cost $75. The party is from 6-10 p.m., with cocktails and Hor d'oeuvres from Blu Café and Bar, music, and fabulous auction items. Dress is sassy, classy and comfortable.
On Friday, July 14, swimmers will dive into Boston Harbor for a 22-mile relay. On Saturday, July 15, there will be one-mile and half-mile swims at Nantasket Beach. All swim events are open to individuals and teams.
Swim Across America is a non-profit corporation that runs events from Boston to San Francisco to support cancer research at the country's finest hospitals and institutions. Proceeds from the Boston area swims and kick-off party will support the David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Organizers hope to raise more than $300,000 this year.
