Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament/Jeffrey Vinick Memorial, June 19

Register by May 26

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Golfers from throughout western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut are invited to participate in the 27th annual Jimmy Fund Tournament/Jeffrey Vinick Memorial scheduled to be held on five of the region's top courses on Monday, June 19. Organized by the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts, the all-day event benefits cancer research and care at New England's top cancer hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The $250 entry fee includes lunch, hospitality on the course, greens fees, golf carts, gifts, prizes, and dinner at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. This year's dinner celebration includes a social hour at 4:30 p.m., dinner promptly at 5:30 p.m., and a silent and live auction to cap off the evening.

This year's event, which was named for a heroic young man from Longmeadow, Mass., who lost his battle with cancer in 1983, is one of Jimmy Fund Golf's largest tournaments and is, once again, expected to be a sellout. Courses include: Crestview Country Club, Agawam, Mass.; The Orchards Golf Club, South Hadley; The Ranch Golf Club, Southwick; Twin Hills Country Club, Longmeadow; and Wintonbury Hills, Bloomfield, Conn. Last year's event raised more than $400,000 for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, bringing the total contribution to over $4.4 million.

"More than 500 golfers will get to enjoy a great day out on the courses, while raising funds that support lifesaving research at Dana-Farber," said Scott Hoffman, tournament chair. "The success of this tournament is a testament to an incredible amount of teamwork on every level from our talented committee to our generous sponsors."

Golf applications for the Jeffrey Vinick Memorial Tournament are available through May 26, by calling the Western New England Jimmy Fund office in West Springfield at (413) 733-1200 or (888) 546-6938.

Officially founded in 1983, Jimmy Fund Golf is one of the largest organized golf programs for charity in the country.
