Dana-Farber holiday cards & candles on sale to help fight cancer
Exclusive designs by cancer patients and local artists
Before you know it, the holidays will be here. Our streets will be sparkling with holiday lights, Christmas Trees will be decorated, and holiday music will be jingling through the malls. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is getting into the spirit with an exclusive holiday card collection that will help to make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer.
The 2006 collection includes 15 designs and greetings. Each set includes 15 cards, with 16 envelopes for just $20. Proceeds support cancer treatment for adults and children at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and research that is used by physicians around the world.
There are cards for all occasions to wish friends and family a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or Happy New Year. Some designs are more traditional with winter photos of the Boston Custom House or Frog Pond. There are also Red Sox and Patriots cards perfect for any New England sports enthusiast, and some cards are created by our patients.
A 12-year-old named Hannah from Edgartown, Mass., who is currently undergoing treatment for Ewing's sarcoma, designed a card of hope with a snowman and Christmas tree inside a snow globe. The card says Happy Holidays on the front.
Lee, a father of two and artist from Marlborough, who has been in remission from acute myelogenous leukemia for nearly five years, designed a card for sports lovers. "Touchdown Santa," depicts Santa scoring for the Patriots, like Teddy Bruschi famously did for the team last year.
The entire 2006 Holiday Card Collection is now available to view and buy online at www.jimmyfund.org/holiday. After Columbus Day the cards will be sold at Crate & Barrel retail stores throughout New England, and starting Nov. 1, the cards will be sold in the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute lobby at 44 Binney Street, Boston.
Personalized black imprinting is also offered, including company logos in black and white for an additional charge. Orders will be accepted until the end of the January 2007. Delivery takes 2 – 3 weeks. Call (617) 632-5420 for more details.
As part of the Holiday Greetings program, sponsored by Sodexho and Liberty Mutual, Dana-Farber is also selling the Green Monster Yankee Candle, an evergreen scented candle in a glass 14.5 oz. jar. It is on sale at Dana-Farber for $20, and online for $23, due to shipping and handling.
* Illustrations of the cards in PDF form are available upon request.
