Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer

Monday, May 8 – Sunday, May 14 (Mother's Day)

Make Mother's Day extra special this year by treating your mom to a fabulous dessert the week leading up to Mother's Day, while helping to battle breast cancer.

The 7th annual Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer is expected to be sweeter than ever this year with more than 100 restaurants from Greater Boston participating.

From Monday, May 8, until Mother's Day on Sunday, May 14, local pastry chefs will create a unique dessert costing around $8, depending on the restaurant. When ordered, 100-percent of the proceeds will benefit the Eva Brownman Breast Cancer Fund. This fund supports breast cancer research, education and treatment at the Breast Oncology Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Along with friends and family, Marjie Brownman Shapiro and her sister Carol Brownman Sneider developed the Eva Brownman Breast Cancer Fund in 1991 to honor their mother, Eva Brownman. Eva lost her battle with breast cancer in 1973. The organization was created in hopes that no child would lose a mother, no husband a wife, no mother a daughter, and no one a friend to breast cancer.

Founders of the Eva Brownman Breast Cancer Fund started Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer in 2000. Since its inception, Boston Bakes has raised more than $155,000. This year organizers hope to hit $200,000.
