Red Sox autograph signing & auction to support the Jimmy Fund
The Jimmy Fund Council of Greater Boston is hosting a home run autograph session with several Red Sox players and minor-league prospects. "New Stars for Young Stars" is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 7, at Jillian's Boston. So far, Red Sox players Jonathan Papelbon, Bronson Arroyo, Craig Hansen, Lenny DiNardo, Manny DelCarmen and minor-league players Charlie Zink, Jed Lowrie, and Brandon Moss plan to attend.
The autograph session is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Three tiers of tickets are on sale now. Only 200 will be sold, so buy early.
Platinum tickets cost $149, which includes autographs from all players, a top spot in line, lunch for up to three people, and a Red Sox game jersey. Only 10 platinum tickets will be sold.
Gold tickets cost $99 and include autographs from all players, a priority spot in line, lunch for up to three people, and an 8x10 photo of each player or an official major-league baseball. Only 40 gold tickets will be sold.
General tickets cost $49 and include lunch for up to three people, plus autographs from four players, who will be divided into groups A and B. Group A includes Papelbon, Hansen, Lowrie, and Moss. Group B includes Arroyo, DiNardo, DelCarmen, and Zink. When buying the ticket you must choose group A or B.
Lunch for three is included with each ticket. This means a parent can come with two children, for example, but if only one ticket is purchased, you will only receive one autograph from each player in the group.
Tickets are on sale at www.rotmanauction.com. If the event is not sold out online, then tickets will be on sale at the door.
Rotman Auction will also hold a silent auction of sports memorabilia at Jillian's that day to support the Jimmy Fund. Players will sign items you buy. And Jillian's will donate the cost of bowling during the event to the Jimmy Fund. There will be bowling contests, too. If you get a strike, you'll win a signed baseball or photo from a Red Sox player.
An official charity of the Boston Red Sox, the Jimmy Fund was founded in 1948. It supports the fight against cancer at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative, effective cancer therapies for adults as well as children.
