Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Pays Tribute to Cancer Survivors at Boogie on Low Beach Nantucket Fundraiser
Nantucket Residents and Guest Honoree Larry Lucchino of the World Champion Boston Red Sox Recognized
Several Nantucket residents battling cancer and Boston Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino will be honored at the annual Boogie on Low Beach fundraiser hosted by George A. Cloutier. Proceeds from the event will benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Nantucket Cottage Hospital's Community and Home Health Department.
Cloutier is a member of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Board of Trustees and the Founder, Chairman and CEO of American Management Services, Inc. Last year, Cloutier underwrote and organized the inaugural fundraiser, which raised $400,000 for Dana-Farber and Hospice Care of Nantucket Foundation.
This year's event will be held on Friday, July 22, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at Cloutier's home at 40 Low Beach Road, Siasconset.
This year's honorees include Alan Costa, a native Nantucket resident and general manager of the Miacomet Golf Course. A Vietnam veteran, Costa is winning his battle with bladder cancer after being adversely affected by Agent Orange. Additional honorees are to be named at the event. All are full time Nantucket residents who have battled or are currently battling cancer. This year, Dana-Farber and George Cloutier are proud to recognize special guest and Boston Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. Since being diagnosed in 1985, Lucchino has worked tirelessly to increase awareness of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and reduce anxiety for others facing the illness.
WCVB-TV's Natalie Jacobson will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the event, which will feature cuisine provided by Nantucket's finest restaurants and dancing to calypso, Motown and disco tunes. Live and silent auctions will be held featuring items including a businessman's lunch for three with Jack Welch at No. 9 Park, exotic trips to Peking, Paris and to New Orleans for a ride on the premier Mardi Gras float, a Palm Beach "society" weekend with a stay at a waterfront mansion, a round of golf and lunch at Mar-a-Lago, a private dinner party prepared by celebrity chef Todd English for ten at your private residence in Nantucket, and a 5-day cruise on your own personal yacht.
Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, a real estate investment manager and developer whose notable projects include Boston's Nine Zero Hotel, is principal underwriter of this year's event. Intercontinental Chairman & CEO Peter Palandjian and his wife Minou are Nantucket residents.
