Champs to Challenge Cancer in 36th Annual Ice Show

An Evening with Champions, Oct. 14 & 15

Top Olympic and world skaters will continue their battle against cancer this fall as they once again gather at America's premier figure skating exhibition, An Evening with Champions, on Friday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct.15, at 7 p.m. at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center.

Marking the 36th exhibition performance to benefit the Jimmy Fund, skating champions both past and present, will join host Paul Wylie on the ice to raise awareness and financial support for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since its inception in 1970, this entirely student-run event has raised more than $2.2 million for pediatric cancer aid and research.

Wylie, the 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist (and Harvard graduate '90-'91), will make his 21st appearance with the show. He will be joined by an impressive slate of talent including 1998 Gold Medalist Ilia Kulik, two-time Gold Medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva, 2005 U.S. National Bronze Medalist Kimmie Meissner (Saturday only), 2005 World Junior Champions Morgan Matthews and Maxim Zavozin, and 14-time National Precision Skating Champions, the Haydenettes of Massachusetts.

Founded in 1948 to raise funds for the fight against children's cancer, the Jimmy Fund supports the search for new cancer treatments for both adults and children at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative and effective cancer therapies.

Tickets cost $30 for adults, $10 for children and senior citizens, and $7 for Harvard undergraduates. Tickets may be purchased starting Aug. 25 by calling (617) 493-8172 or online at www.aneveningwithchampions.org. Group rates are also available ($24, $9).
