Many ways to back the home team
Red Sox license plate and holiday gifts benefit the Jimmy Fund

Once again, this could be the year for the Boston Red Sox — they're partaking in playoff action for the third time in five years.
If it is, a Massachusetts Red Sox license plate, three Red Sox-related holiday ornaments, and Red Sox-themed holiday cards — all that benefit the Jimmy Fund, the team's official charity — become must-have items for the team's loyal fans. However it all ends this October, Red Sox fans will be able to recall the memorable 2004 baseball season by purchasing one or more and also get prepared to cheer on the team next year.
The three collectible ornaments feature two views of Fenway Park and a "snapshot" of the new Ted Williams Jimmy Fund statue. One ornament depicts Fenway from the vantage point of the .406 Club, and another from deep center field. The third portrays the statue of Sox legend Ted Williams — placing a baseball cap on the head of a Jimmy Fund patient — that stands outside Fenway's Gate B.
These keepsakes can be hung on a Christmas tree or displayed in a variety of other ways. The price is $20 per ornament, plus shipping and handling. To learn more or to place an order, visit www.jimmyfund.org/gif/holiday/.

Another item that both shows support for the Olde Town Team and benefits its official charity is the Jimmy Fund-Red Sox Massachusetts license plate. The plate costs $40, $28 of which goes directly to the Jimmy Fund. To order the plate, visit the Registry of Motor vehicles' website at www.state.ma.us/rmv/express/plates.htm and follow the online instructions.
Fans can also send holiday greetings to show the team they support through thick and thin. The Jimmy Fund offers three cards that highlight the team — one features a holiday-festooned Fenway, another is a Red Sox snowman, and the third is a classic rendition of a kid in a Red Sox cap, dubbed "Jimmy." To view and order, visit www.jimmyfund.org/gif/holiday and click on the Red Sox Collection.
The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Through its support of the Jimmy Fund, the Boston Red Sox - its players, its management, its ownership, and its fans - have contributed mightily to save lives, find cures, and dramatically change the quality of life for those facing cancer in New England and around the world.
