Jimmy Fund Sports and Entertainment Auction, Aug. 18-25

Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, exclusive golf foursomes, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, even Jimmy Buffet — here's a chance to get sports and entertainment packages money can't buy except via the WEEI Jimmy Fund Radiothon online and live auctions at www.jimmyfundradio.org and help fight cancer at the same time.

Leading up to the WEEI Jimmy Fund Radiothon presented by NESN on Friday, Aug. 27, the Jimmy Fund, together with the Boston Red Sox, WEEI and NESN, is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from Aug. 18 through 25 to bid on an amazing selection of auction items all to help strike out cancer.

Dubbed the "Auction of Legends," this radiothon auction is divided into two parts: the All-Star Auction and the Heavy Hitters Auction. Descriptions of items available and instructions on how to bid are all available online at www.jimmyfundradio.org.

Items up for bid include Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox tickets, plus whale watching tours, tickets to "The View" in New York City or to the Penn & Teller Show in Las Vegas, complete with airline tickets. Add in a golf weekend at Willowbend, tickets to Jimmy Buffet at Fenway or to the Tweeter Center next summer, a VIP Boston Billiards party for 20, and the Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum and you have an auction that no one should miss.

Heavy Hitters packages include getting to be a Celtics VIP with access to a practice, lunch with Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers, and four floor seats to a game; four tickets to both the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and roundtrip airfare courtesy of American Airlines from Boston to Los Angeles; exclusive Patriots Club Level tickets, plus pre-game warm-up and VIP parking; a Bruins package designed just for the hockey lover; and four front-row Green Monster seat to the Sept. 25 Red Sox vs. Yankees game.

The Auction of Legends is all part of the daylong WEEI broadcast of its third annual radiothon to benefit cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event, which features a breakfast with New England's top general managers from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and a lunch from noon to 2:30 featuring a panel discussion with current Red Sox players, will be simulcast on NESN. The star-studded guest line-up will include past and present sports stars and several Hollywood celebrities, including Donald Trump, Michael J. Fox, and other surprise guests, plus the real heroes - the patients of the Jimmy Fund Clinic, and the Dana-Farber doctors and nurses who are devoted to fighting cancer.

Whether you bid on the auction items or attend the day's events, please join the Jimmy Fund's team and tune into WEEI or NESN on Friday, Aug. 27, from 6 a.m. to midnight to raise funds for the ongoing fight against cancer. Pledges will be taken toll-free at (877) 738-1234 or online at www.jimmyfundradio.org.

Founded in 1948 to raise funds for the fight against children's cancer, the Jimmy Fund supports the search for new cancer treatments and cures for both adults and children at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
