John Hancock Fantasy Day at Fenway Park, July 17

BOSTON – Being able to step up to the plate or catch fly balls on the hallowed ground of Major League Baseball's oldest stadium — Fenway Park — is a fantasy for almost every diehard baseball fan. This fantasy can become a reality for participants of John Hancock Fantasy Day at Fenway Park to benefit the Jimmy Fund, which is slated to be held on Saturday, July 17, [rain date, Aug. 1].

Featuring both daytime and "under the lights" sessions, Fantasy Day has a variety of packages including a Batting Package, a Fielding Package, and a Fan Package. Batters get 15 chances to hit a ball over Fenway's famed left field wall (the "Green Monster"), while fielders get to test their skills at snagging fly balls or making double plays for an hour on the manicured field. Fans get to take in all the Fantasy Day action from a prime seat in the stands.

Included for all is a tour of the historic park, including the Red Sox locker room and the Green Monster, plus an all-you-can-eat buffet in the luxurious .406 Club at Fenway. Batters will have the thrill of seeing their name in lights and hearing a description of their performance announced over the loudspeaker.

Opened on April 20, 1912, Fenway hosted games before any of the existing big league parks. It's tiny, dark and damp inside, but bursting with history — Babe Ruth and Ted Williams played there, to name just a few. Sign up before June 1 and the Batting Package is $1,750, the Field Package is $750, and the Fan Package is $100.

Presented by the Boston Red Sox and John Hancock Financial Services, an official sponsor of Major League Baseball, Fantasy Day benefits the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
