A Chance for KidsSM at Burger King® Restaurants, Aug. 1-Sept. 1

Give $1 to the Jimmy Fund and help Burger King® Restaurants raise $1 million for pediatric cancer research and care

Throughout the month of August, customers at more than 500 participating Burger King® Restaurants in New England, eastern New York State, and northern New Jersey will be invited to contribute $1 to the Jimmy Fund in the international restaurants' A Chance for Kids program.

In return, these customers will receive a scratch card that is guaranteed to be a winner. Prizes include Burger King® products with a value of $1 or more, discounts for Six Flags amusement parks, HomeGoods gift certificates, and the top prize of a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.

This year's goal is to raise $1 million for the Jimmy Fund, which supports the fight against cancer at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and helps to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. The Jimmy Fund's supporters have helped fund one of the greatest medical success stories of the past 50 years — the improvement in cure rates for childhood cancers, from less than 10 percent to greater than 75 percent and as high as 90 percent for some forms of the disease. Last year, the program raised $790,000.

"Burger King Corporation and franchisees are pleased to partner with such a worthy cause for the fourth year in a row," says Jim Joy, Northeast Region Vice President, Burger King Corporation. "Childhood cancer is a devastating disease and we are proud to combine our efforts to help 'small fries' beat cancer for yet another year."

The faces of the A Chance for Kids campaign are young cancer patients from throughout the region. They are affectionately known as "Small Fries" by the Burger King Corporation. These youngsters, who include Monáa, Adam, Amber, Lindsay, and Jack, represent pediatric cancer patients from around the world who will be helped by Burger King® restaurants and its guests.

"Burger King Corporation has been a staunch supporter of our mission to raise the chances of survival for those facing childhood cancers," says Mike Andrews, chairman of the Jimmy Fund. "It is because of the compassion and support of companies like Burger King Corporation, its participating franchisees, and their guests that we are able to move forward with such momentum in our quest to understand, treat, and cure the disease."
