Cooking for a Cure, April 2
Top chefs, area wineries and breweries come together to fight cancer
BOSTON — Wine and dine at the fifth annual "Great Chefs Cooking for a Cure" on April 2, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Two International Place, Boston. More than 40 of Greater Boston's top chefs, caterers and wineries will be offering delectable tastings of their specialties at this event to benefit the Gillette Center for Women's Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The evening is hosted by the Friends of Dana-Farber, an all volunteer organization of more than 1700 members that serves Dana-Farber through fundraising, direct patient services and public information programs.
"It is exciting to see how this event has grown over the past five years," says Jayne Bennett Friedberg, president of the Friends. "Thanks to the generosity of the chefs, the vineyards and breweries, this has become one of our most popular events. People enjoy great food, cheer and entertainment all while raising funds to help eradicate women's cancers."
The honorary co-chairs for the evening are Chef Amanda Lydon, from Upstairs on the Square in Cambridge, and WHDH news anchor Frances Rivera. The Friends co-chairs are Anna Friedman of Boston and Vita Melignano of Weston.
Other featured restaurants and caterers include Ambrosia on Huntington, Aquitaine, Armani Café, Artu, Brickyard Café, Casablanca, Chef Brendan, Claremont Café, Clio, Creative Catering, The Fireplace, Glory, Gourmet Caterers, Inc., Green Olive Catering, Harvest, Henrietta's Table, Interactive Cuisine, Jennifer's Gourmet, Lucca, Mantra, Meritage, Mistral, No. 9 Park, Oleana, Radius, Ruby Chard Catering, Saint, Saporito's Florence Club Cafe, Sel de la Terre, Sweet Creations Bakery, Tea Tray in the Sky, Trio, Truc, the Vault, and Wasik's Cheese Shop.
The chefs will provide samplings of their signature dishes in a casual dining atmosphere with featured music by Jeremy Berlin Quartet. Award-winning New England wine and beer will be showcased during the evening with featured libations from Greenvale Vineyards, Harpoon Brewery, Newport Vineyards, Tremont Ale, and Watch City Brewing Company.
