No Need for Speed at the CSC Ski Challenge
on Feb. 15

Five-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield came to Dana-Farber to help knock out cancer. During his visit, he got to know Jimmy Fund Clinic patient Amber Bailey.
WESTFORD, Mass. — Both tortoise and hare alike have a chance to win at the 8th annual CSC/Jimmy Fund Ski Challenge at Nashoba Valley on Saturday, February 15. This event to benefit the Jimmy Fund incorporates participants' fundraising efforts in determining a race winner while providing fun, friendly competition, and a chance to help those seeking a victory over cancer.
Companies, families, or a group of friends are invited to form four-person teams ($200). Individual skiers ($40) can also join in the day's festivities and take part in the open individual ski challenge. The race course is set for all levels of ski skills, giving everyone from novice to experienced skiers a chance to compete. Additionally, competitors can surge ahead of their rivals by raising more than the entry fee. For every additional $150 raised, a second will be shaved off their race times. Heated rivalries have developed in this race and every second will count, just as every dollar matters in the fight against cancer.
The all-day event includes an outdoor barbecue lunch. Team races, the open individual ski challenge in the afternoon, plus an après ski party and auction. All participants will receive an all-day lift ticket, lunch, and a chance to compete in the afternoon open competition. Freestyle champion Wayne Wong will be making a special appearance and conducting a ski clinic for participants.
Held to benefit the Jimmy Fund, the event is organized by the Massachusetts-area offices of the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). A global company, CSC helps clients in industry and government leverage information technology (I/T) now available to achieve their business-to-business, e-business, strategic and operational objectives. CSC has helped to raise more than $190,000 for the Jimmy Fund through this event.
The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative, effective cancer therapies for adults and children.
Registration to compete at Nashoba Valley in the CSC/Jimmy Fund Ski Challenge begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The team (four person) entry fee is $200 and the individual registration is $40. Additional fundraising to benefit the Jimmy Fund is encouraged.
